Celebrating over 100 years in the fashion industry, Debenhams was formed in 1778 by Messrs Flint and Clark and is now a British retailer operating under a department store format. As of February 2010, the company has 153 stores across the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Denmark and over 40 franchise international outlets, including the Philippines.
Flint and Clark began trading at 44 Wigmore Street in London as a drapers’ store under the name Flint & Clark. In 1813, the name was changed to Clark and Debenham with the addition of William Debenham as a partner. 1851, the name was changed again to Debenham & Freebody when Clement Freebody became a partner. In 1905, the business was incorporated as Debenhams Limited.

Debenhams Philippines

Debenhams opened its first Philippine store in 2005 at the Shangri-La Plaza Mall, inaugurated its second store at the 3rd level of Rustan’s Makati in 2006, and last November 2007, opened its third branch at TriNoma. The British household name brings to the Philippines its trademark trendy clothes and chic lifestyle pieces, suitable for women, men, children, and the home.
